Hulk Syndrome: Bruce Banner’s Nightmare

Many people know nothing about Hulk Syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by sudden episodes of rage. These scenes often turn into violent behavior. The medical name of the syndrome is Amok Syndrome. Today, however, people associate this syndrome with a green monster we all know, the Hulk.

Hulk is a fictional character in Marvel Comics. He has also appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He has appeared in recent films such as Thor and The Avengers. The Hulk is the alter ego of the gentle Dr. Bruce Banner . When Banner performed experiments with hazardous waste, he became infected.

Ever since then, Banner has had another personality: Hulk. This green monster suddenly appears. He is violent and has a tendency to destroy everyone around him.  Banner is unable to control the Hulk. Little by little, however, Banner learns to live with this green monster.

Hulk syndrome or Amok syndrome

In these movies, Banner turns into a Hulk when he gets angry. His behavior is uncontrollable and he is full of anger. When we always keep our anger inside, it can make us explode in a violent way.

According to experts, Hulk syndrome is associated with cultural factors. Although Hulk syndrome has been documented in many cultures, they have all been documented differently.

In the West, before the Hulk became an imaginary figure, people had already documented the Hulk syndrome. It was known by another name: Amok Syndrome. Psychologists quoted the word Amok from the Malay term men-amok. This word roughly means “attacking and killing with blind rage.”

Psychologists believe that Hulk syndrome has done a lot of damage and is the source of many physical controversies. However, studies suggest that the incidence of diagnoses is much lower than what these cases actually are in society. For example, many people who suffer from Amok syndrome may commit suicide at the end of an episode.

Not all anger is negative. There is no point in rejecting emotions. A mentally healthy person is one who allows himself to feel all his feelings on a large scale.

This includes negative emotions such as anger and grief. Anger fulfills its function when it warns us. Someone may have violated our rights, and this angers us. We can always control our anger and turn it into strength.
